Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

This workshop will provide college and university faculty with hands-on experience and resources that combine the chemistry of artists’ materials with the teaching of basic general, organic and analytical chemistry principles. The workshop is a small slice of the intensive 5-day cCWCS (Chemistry Collaborations, Workshops and Communities of Scholars) Chemistry of Art Workshop funded through a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF-TUES Type 3 Project #1022895). The half-day workshop will consist of 4-5 laboratory activities facilitated by cCWCS workshop alumni and leaders who have used these lab activities in their teaching.

Activities may include light and color, XRF analysis of paint and metals, metal etching and coloring, and synthesis and use of indigo dye.
